Scholarly Opportunities

The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies has been home to many visiting scholars and post-doctoral fellows from around the world. At this time, we are pleased to offer a few different programs to which those interested in conducting research at our center may apply, as well as a paper prize for students.

Druze Student Paper Prize

The Druze Student Paper Prize is open to undergraduate and graduate students from any U.S.-based institution and is awarded annually for an exceptional submission of written academic work that focuses on the Druze.

Qatar Post-Doctoral Fellowship

The Qatar Post-Doctoral Fellowship was established by a generous grant from the State of Qatar to the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS) at Georgetown University in Washington DC. The fellowship supports a recent Ph.D. working on the topic of U.S.-Arab relations, Arab Studies, or Islamic Studies for one academic year.

American Druze Foundation Fellowship

The purpose of the ADF Fellowship is to promote specialized social scientific research on the Druze communities centrally and primarily, and on collective political and cultural identities in the Arab world more generally. The ADF Fellowship supports academic research in the disciplines of history, political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, and archaeology.

Visiting Scholars Program

The Visiting Scholars program at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS) was established to accommodate visiting researchers who wish to use the facilities and faculty resources of Georgetown University for research purposes. The University extends its resources on a selective basis in the spirit of institutional collegiality and to foster the further development of knowledge.

Course Proposals

Each academic year, the Arab Studies program reviews proposals from colleagues interested in teaching a class in our program.
