Research Interests: sociology of the gulf, marginalized communities in the gulf, collective memory and trauma, and cultural and historical narratives
In 2013, Noor received a scholarship from the Middle East Partnership Initiative, where she was recognized as a Tomorrow’s Leaders scholar to complete her bachelor’s degree in business management at the Lebanese American University. Following her graduation in 2017, AlShaikh worked in the cultural sector with multiple organizations including the Ministry of Culture and Antiquities in Bahrain. She then dedicated her time for research where she published chapters on the political developments of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for an annual publication "The Gulf: The Constant and the Changing" published by the Gulf Center for development policies. She also published a chapter that explores the pedagogy and politics of Arabic as a foreign language with the Ministry of Culture at UAE. She seeks to continue her passion in research to contribute to local gulf scholarship. AlShaikh was awarded Kuwait-America Foundation Scholarship by Georgetown University for the year 2021-2022.
