Research interests: identity politics, colonialism/post-colonial studies, religion and politics, intercultural communication, Arabic dialects
Chase graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Arabic, with minors in Middle Eastern Studies and Spanish. In addition to carrying out field research in revolutionary Egypt, he completed a yearlong translation internship at the Library of Alexandria. Chase has extensive academic and professional experience in the MENA region, including a year of study at the University of Alexandria in Egypt and over a year teaching Egyptian students at the Arab Academy of Science and Technology. He spent over five years living and working in Morocco, where he oversaw the Arabic Overseas Flagship Program.
