National Resource Center – MENA

Healy Hall

Since 1997, the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS) has been a proud part of the National Resource Center on the Middle East and North Africa (NRC-MENA) at Georgetown University, as designated by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant. The NRC-MENA at Georgetown supports world-class training in the languages, history, culture, politics, and economics of the MENA, as well as broader global issues and contemporary challenges as they relate to the region. In order to help meet the national need for specialists on the Middle East and North Africa, the NRC-MENA also supports Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships for the study of modern Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Turkish.

The NRC-MENA is housed within Georgetown’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, one of the world’s leading and oldest schools of foreign service, and includes the following eight member departments and programs across the university:

Center for Contemporary Arab Studies
Center for Jewish Civilization
Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies
Department of Government
Department of History
Persian Studies
Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding
Turkish Program
