Research Interests: Lebanese politics and culture, Palestinian-Israeli conflict, history of the Levant, resistance movements, women's rights, women's economic empowerment, marginalized and refugee communities
Gabriela Saba graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with a dual major in Political Science and Arabic and minor in Business Administration. Originally Lebanese and raised in the Arabian Gulf, Gabriela's academic career focused on Lebanese politics and history. She conducted an analysis of online sentiments towards Lebanese group Hezbollah using an open-source network and visualization software. Additionally, in her position as a research assistant with Global Insight, Gabriela worked with UN Women and World Food Programme researching women and refugee communities in Iraq and Lebanon.
Reflective of her passion for preserving Arab culture, Gabriela co-founded the Middle Eastern and North African Student Association at the University of Arizona. As an officer for Students for Justice in Palestine, she also led political education workshops and direct actions to amplify demands for Palestinian human rights. Gabriela is excited to pursue her love for research and Arab culture during her time in the MAAS program.
