Angeline Wright
Class of 2025
Hometown: Mid/North East Coast, USA
Research Interests: International humanitarian advocacy efforts for refugee groups in SWANA; comparative implementations of international decrees on refugees and asylum seekers; and indigenous and imported cultural interpretations of gender and sexuality.
Angie completed her undergraduate studies at Fordham University Lincoln Center in December 2022, graduating summa cum laude with a double major in History and Middle East Studies and a minor in Arabic. Her commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to learning history reflected in her research, which included topics such as gender and sexuality trends in Iran before and after Western influence; news media’s leverage over American public opinion on Turkey and on Islam since Turkey joined NATO; and cultural and governmental factors that determine Muslim women’s participation in public recitation of the Quran. Her research skills were honed by a yearlong honors research seminar, a summer assistantship under an Associate Professor of History, and her membership in a graduate course on the contemporary history of wealth and poverty in the United States. After completing the MAAS program, Angie will attend law school, aiming to work in the field of international humanitarian law and refugee and asylum seeker rights.
