Batoul Matar is a second-year M.A. candidate in the Master of Arab Studies program at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. She holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature and a Diploma in Education. Her work and studies are driven by a deep belief in the power of education to restore hope and dignity in times of crisis. Her academic and professional interests center on education in emergencies, gender, displacement, and humanitarian leadership in the Arab world. Batoul’s research explores how education functions as a space of resilience and agency amid conflict and displacement. She is currently involved in qualitative research that examines education and resilience in contexts of displacement and crisis. With prior experience in teaching, community engagement, and humanitarian programming, she is committed to bridging the gap between research and practice to design inclusive and context-sensitive educational initiatives for crisis-affected communities.
