Michael is a recent graduate from the University of St Andrews in Scotland where he majored in both Arabic and Latin, with an extensive background in the classics. During a semester abroad, he also studied at the Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman, Jordan. Michael spent the summer and fall of 2024 working in Tunis, Tunisia for the United States Institute of Peace as a writer and researcher on Libyan political and societal affairs, with a focus on women’s rights in the Southern Tuareg region of Libya.
At MAAS, Michael hopes to achieve a thorough understanding of the politics and societies of the SWANA region and to enhance his Arabic proficiency. Michael aspires to continue to work in the SWANA region after graduation from MAAS to further build his knowledge of Arab language and culture. In DC, Michael is excited to delve into numerous cuisines, meet many different people, join a rec soccer league, and discover all that the city has to offer.
