Maya is an accelerated master’s student completing her bachelor’s degree in regional and comparative studies with a minor in Arabic. Her academic and research interests focus on Middle Eastern regional security, arms control, and the impacts of U.S. foreign policy on the region. For the past two summers, she has spent time in Amman, Jordan, pursuing advanced language study at the Sijal Institute and completing internships at Collateral Repair Project and the Al-Quds Center for Political Studies. She joins CCAS eager to build on these experiences and connect with her peers.
As a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar and first-generation, low-income student, she is passionate about access to higher education. Driven by this, she currently works as a National Education Opportunity Network Fellow, bringing a Georgetown geography course to students at Title I high schools. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar and singing, weightlifting, baking for her friends and classmates, and spoiling her cats.
