Andrew Larson is an M.A. student in Arab Studies at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellow preparing for a career in the U.S. Foreign Service. His academic interests include arms control, regional security, strategic affairs, and U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and North Africa.
His academic and professional experience spans Morocco, Sudan, and Jordan. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco, Andrew worked with youth and Amazigh communities in Azilal and co-founded Awal Nouzilal, a locally led nonprofit focused on youth development, cultural preservation, and community-based initiatives. In Sudan, he taught English at Nile Valley University in Atbara through the Sudan Volunteer Programme during the political upheavals of 2021.
Andrew earned his B.A. in Global Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has also studied in Amman, Jordan, and Seoul, South Korea. He speaks Arabic and has studied Jordanian and Sudanese dialects, as well as Moroccan Darija and Tamazight. His work and studies reflect a broader interest in diplomacy, regional security, and U.S. engagement with the Middle East and North Africa.
