Title: Qatari Ambassador Meets with CCAS Community

His Excellency Mohamed Bin Jaham Al Kuwari dialogued with CCAS faculty and students about his new position as Qatar’s ambassador to the US and about Qatar’s international relations. On February 20, 2014, His Excellency Mohamed Bin Jaham Al Kuwari spoke to a group of CCAS faculty, staff, and students about some of his goals as Qatar’s new ambassador to the United States. The ambassador, who formerly had been Qatar’s ambassador to France, expressed pleasure in his new assignment and hope that Qatar and the US would continue to strengthen their ties and partnership on important issues related to international peace and security. Among issues discussed were educational initiatives funded by the Qatar Foundation such as Education City in Doha, Qatar’s reformation of policies with migrant labor, and how Qatar was responding to the US’s increasing production of oil through new “fracking” methods.

A short reception followed the meeting with the ambassador, during which time the CCAS community was able to converse with the ambassador personally. The Center looks forward to further interactions with the ambassador in the future.
