Title: Global Nexus: A Panel Discussion on the Intersection of International Issues and Cross-Cultural Perspectives

March 21, 2019, 2:00pm-3:15pm, Theatre Arts Arena, Montgomery College-Rockville Campus

Today’s global challenges are some of the toughest we have ever faced. Populism, authoritarianism, climate change, cyberattacks, automation, and migration due to conflict are complex issues challenging people and their governments. Educated citizen leaders need nuanced perspectives and stakeholder-driven solutions. The Georgetown panel and open discussion will touch on such trends and approaches to thinking about and acting upon these complex problems.

Among the approaches represented are diplomacy and international development, issues of gender, violence and conflict, and the complexities and richness of national identities around food production, consumption and cuisine.

Global Nexus and Georgetown University invite MC students, faculty and the public to participate in this stimulating and thought-provoking afternoon event.

Refreshments will be served. Email enas.elhanafi@montgomerycollege.edu to RSVP.

This event is sponsored by the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University, and the Ali Vural Ak Center for Global Islamic Studies at George Mason University. It is made possible by a Title VI grant from the US Department of Education, which is funding a National Resource Center on the Middle East and North Africa at Georgetown University, and additional gifts.
