Title: CCAS mourns the passing of H.E. Ambassador Clovis Maksoud

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ambassador Clovis Maksoud on May 15, 2016, at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Maksoud was instrumental in inaugurating the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies in the late 1970s, and he remained to the end a steadfast supporter of its activities. He was a longstanding member of the CCAS Board of Advisors, and helped establish in 2005 the Clovis and Hala Salaam Maksoud Chair in Arab Studies. We will sorely miss his expertise and guidance, and send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and to all members of the larger Arab and Arab-American communities.
