Title: Announcing Kuwait-American Foundation Scholarship Recipient

CCAS and the Kuwait-America Foundation are pleased to award a full scholarship to Jordanian student, Ms. Afaf Khoshman. The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies Kuwait-America Foundation Scholarship is for applications to the M.A. in Arab Studies program who are residents of the Middle East and North Africa region and who hope to work in the region following graduation.

Afaf is from Shobak, Jordan, which is 200 km south of the capital city, Amman. Prior to coming to DC, Afaf taught English for four years in her hometown and then later worked as a translator and interpreter with several organizations and NGOs, including NDI, USAID, Noor Al-Hussein Foundation, and Peace Corps. Afaf holds two academic degrees: a BA in English Language and Literature and an MA in Translation from Yarmouk University and the University of Jordan respectively, as well as a teaching certificate from Teachers College at the University of Columbia in New York City. Throughout her career, Afaf has gained exposure among local Jordanian media, and has worked alongside civil society organizations, international organizations, and agencies involved in refugee relief. We are pleased to welcome Afaf to the MAAS program!
