Sausan Ghosheh, Ph.D., is a political scientist whose research examines how international institutions produce and legitimate political order through legal interpretation and diplomatic practice. She is currently a Visiting Research Scholar at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and received her Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University in May 2026.
Before entering academia, Sausan spent two decades working with the United Nations, the United Nations Development Programme, and as CNN’s Senior International Producer in Jerusalem. That earlier vantage—inside the rooms where mandates are drafted, and diplomatic language is negotiated—now shapes her scholarly approach. She reads institutional language not as neutral description, but as a site where political reality is produced.
Her scholarship draws on this movement between practice and academia to examine international institutions, international law, violence, and political legitimacy. She has taught courses at George Mason University on global conflict, empire, knowledge, and asymmetrical power. Her current book project, Rightlessness in Global Governance, builds on this foundation. Two articles drawn from the dissertation are now in the publication process, one accepted at Race & Class and the other under review, alongside prior peer‑reviewed scholarship and extensive professional writing.
