Amina Darabie is a documentary filmmaker, visual artist, and interdisciplinarian. She holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in the interdisciplinary social sciences and the other in experience architecture. Her undergraduate thesis critically examined representations of U.S. experiential learning programs based in SWANA countries through their graphic design elements.
Her current project develops participatory methodology in the social sciences (Photovoice), and centers on spatial belonging and citizen identity amongst youth in Amman. In the summer, Amina co-facilitates a university study abroad program which uses documentary filmmaking to teach qualitative research methods to undergraduate students in India. Amina is also the producer and editor of the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies’ Shu Kaman podcast.
