Summer Institute 2017: Food, Agriculture, Water, and Environment in the Middle East and North Africa

August 7-11, 2017, 9:00am to 3:00pm, CCAS Boardroom, ICC #141 (and site visits) The Summer Teacher Institute 2017 will focus on the cultures of food, growing food and issues of sustaining agriculture in the Middle East and North Africa in the face of water use and climate change. The institute will explore the topic from many angles, including the history of food culture and agriculture in the region, the aesthetics of enjoying food and growing it in formal gardens and in the agricultural landscape, as well as the transformation of agriculture under colonial rule and in post-independence development states to today.
