Vernacular Interventions: Politics of Modern Iraqi Colloquial Poetry
CCAS and the Arabic Department present this talk with Prof. Qussay Al-Attabi on his research translating Iraqi poetry.
Qussay Al-Attabi is Assistant Professor of Arabic at Kenyon College. He is a scholar of modern Arabic literature whose research spans the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in the Arab Middle East, focusing on the intersection of politics and literary and cultural production. Currently, he is a Visiting Scholar at Brown University, where he is translating into English a volume of colloquial Iraqi poetry.
