CCAS 2008 Annual Symposium "Industrialization in the Gulf: A Socioeconomic Revolution"

The Arab-Persian Gulf has witnessed an explosion of economic growth in the past several decades, which has resulted in serious sociopolitical, demographic, and economic consequences. The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies announces its 2008 Annual Symposium, dedicated to the imperative subject of "Industrialization in the Gulf: A Socioeconomic Revolution." The event took place on March 27 and 28 in Copley Formal Lounge, Georgetown University.

CCAS sponsors a diverse array of events with the goal of increasing public awareness about the Arab world. The lectures, discussions, conferences and artistic events organized by the Center deal with a wide variety of contemporary political, economic and social issues, as well as the region's culture and history. Located in the heart of Washington, DC, CCAS provides an open forum for scholars, policymakers, students and others to discuss issues of importance involving the Arab world.
