Anne-Laure Malauzat was born in Limoges, France, but left for Egypt, her mother's home country, at only three weeks old. She spent most of her childhood in Cairo, but also lived in Turkey, India, South Africa, and France. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Mount Holyoke College in 2009 with a B.A. in politics and Middle Eastern studies. Anne-Laure wrote her senior thesis on the politicization of religious charities in Egypt. At Mount Holyoke, she earned the Award of Excellence for Arabic Tutoring and Language Fellowship and the Student Leadership and Service Award. Anne-Laure spent an undergraduate year doing research and taking classes at the American University in Cairo, and in the past four years, she has interned and worked for UNICEF Egypt, the MENA Regional Office of the International Labor Organization, and the French Embassy Technical Cooperation Agency.
At Georgetown, Anne-Laure's concentration is politics with additional interests in development and culture and society.
