Grad Date:05/31/2011 em389@hoyamail.georgetown.edu

Elizabeth Mohan is a first year MAAS student. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2006 with majors in foreign affairs and Middle Eastern studies, Elizabeth took a position working at a large Wall Street law firm. While there, she worked on a variety of pro bono asylum cases, reaffirming her interest in international human rights and development as they specifically relate to the Arab world. As a result of these interests, in 2008 Elizabeth obtained a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to continue her study of Arabic in Tangier, Morocco.  Following the scholarship, she began working at the U.S. Institute of Peace in the Rule of Law department, where she focused on programs relating to customary justice, constitution-making, and guaranteeing property rights in post-conflict societies.  Elizabeth is excited to be at Georgetown, and hopes to focus her studies on the nexus between economic and political development in the Arab world.
