Julia Fitzpatrick, a native of the Detroit area, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2006 with a B.A. in political science and international peace studies. During college, she lived in Egypt for eight months and studied Arabic at the American University in Cairo. After graduating, Julia spent a year working as a Herbert Scoville, Jr. Peace Fellow at Citizens for Global Solutions in Washington, D.C., where she was responsible for advocacy efforts concerning international peace and security issues. She then spent six months as a Human Rights Advocacy Fellow at Adalah: The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Haifa, Israel, before moving to East Jerusalem to work for American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) in early 2008. At ANERA, Julia assisted the Middle East Representative with program development, monitoring, and reporting for ANERA's programs throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Her work focused on psychosocial health issues, education, and rural agricultural development in the West Bank, as well as relief and humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
At CCAS, Julia will focus her studies on the role of U.S. foreign policy and international involvement in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
