Elizabeth graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in 2007 with a B.A. in Arabic, a certificate in Arab studies, and a minor in government. She spent the 2007-2008 academic year in Cairo, Egypt, as a Fulbright fellow, where she studied advanced Arabic at the Arabic Language Institute at the American University in Cairo. While in Cairo, Elizabeth also worked at the international development organization Save the Children in program development and as a translator at the Ibn Khaldun Center. Elizabeth was also a 2008 summer fellow at the Center for Arabic Study Abroad.
Elizabeth is interested in Middle Eastern politics, particularly Islamism and its possible influence on the region’s political development, as well as the role of civil society and opposition parties in Arab politics.
Following graduation from the MAAS program, Elizabeth intends to pursue a Ph.D. in political science and a career influencing U.S. foreign policy towards the Middle East.
