David Greenhalgh graduated from Princeton University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in history, with a concentration in modern colonialism and imperialism. As an undergraduate, David received the Departmental Thesis Prize in African History for his senior thesis, "Why Muslim Algerians Joined Harkas during the Algerian Independence Struggle." After graduation, David spent a summer studying Arabic at the University of Jordan, Amman. He subsequently worked as a Youth Program Coordinator at the Arab American Family Support Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he organized and ran after-school programs for Yemeni-American youth. At Georgetown, David hopes to engage in a rigorous academic study of the Arab world that will complement his experiences studying the language, living abroad, and being an adopted member of the Brooklyn Yemeni community. David incidentally prides himself on his wiffleball skillz.
