Michael C. Hudson delivered a paper in January entitled “Washington vs. al-Jazeera: Competing Constructions of Middle East Realities” at the Conference on Arab Media and Global Development, sponsored by the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Hudson published a chapter on “United States Foreign Policy in the Middle East,” in Louise Fawcett (ed.), International Relations of the Middle East (Oxford University Press, 2005). His paper, “American Hegemony and the Changing Terrain of Middle East International Politics” was published in Bassel Salloukh and Rex Brynen (eds.), Persistent Permeability? Regionalism, Localism, and Globalization in the Middle East (Ashgate, 2004). He participated in a panel on Middle East Peace Prospects organized by Churches for Middle East Peace in the conference, “Ecumenical
Advocacy Days for Global Peace and Justice” in Arlington, VA in March. Other speakers on the panel included Dr. Michele Dunne from Georgetown’s Arabic Department, and Ms. Judy Barsalou from the US Institute of Peace.
