Financial Aid

Highly qualified applicants are eligible for financial assistance in the form of full-tuition and part-tuition grants offered through the MAAS program. Additional scholarships have been provided by friends of the Center and MAAS program in the names of: Al-Sayyid Hassan Taher, A.J. Howar, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al-Qassimi, Hanna Batatu, and Hisham Sharabi. All scholarship awards, made at the time of admissions, will be judged on the basis of academic record and intellectual promise.

A number of Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships are available each academic year and summer to MAAS applicants and current Georgetown graduate students. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the US and combining regional studies with language study (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, or Turkish). FLAS fellowships provide full tuition and a living stipend for the academic year or summer session. FLAS applicants must submit a separate application from the MAAS application. For more information on the FLAS and to download an application, please see Georgetown's National Resource Center on the Middle East website.

Because scholarship funding is limited, applicants should seek outside funding while applying to MAAS, including federal assistance. For information on sources of funding, please consult Georgetown's Office of Student Financial Services website.
