Mark graduated cum laude from Elon University in 2013 with a B.A. in political science and minors in Middle Eastern studies and international studies. While at Elon, he played Division-1 soccer and was a four-year letter-winner on a team that made three NCAA appearances. After graduating from Elon, Mark volunteered in Hebron and Dura village, teaching English to Palestinians of all ages. Following his time in the West Bank, he completed a Master’s program in Islamic and Middle Eastern studies at Hebrew University, graduating magna cum laude. In addition to living in Hebron and Jerusalem, Mark has studied Arabic in Muscat, Rabat, Amman, and Beirut and traveled to Turkey and Qatar.
